Wedding Flowers 101

Wedding Flowers 101

The most popular time of the year to get engaged is over the holidays. Starting from Thanksgiving and going all the way through Valentine’s Day, there are engagements galore! We’re just past engagement season now, so here are some tips that you or a friend might need when you’re thinking about wedding flowers.

1.When to order: It’s always best to get on your florist’s books sooner rather than later so they don’t book someone else’s wedding. Once you have your date, venue, guest list, and color palette picked out, you can reach out to your florist for a consultation.

2.Color Palettes: Flowers come in all different shades of color, and sometimes it can be hard to get an exact match, so it’s always good to have a range of colors in mind. For example, shades of burgundy that range from more red to more purple will look beautiful all mixed together instead of trying to match just one exact shade. Your florist can help you pick out flowers that will work within your color palette.

3.Consultations: At your consultation, we will go through every last detail from your bridal bouquet to the reception décor. It’s always helpful to bring along inspiration photos and things that you like. Be careful with pictures on Instagram and Pinterest though, sometimes they are more expensive than you would think! But if you’re on a budget and you’re ok with us just emulating that inspiration picture, you’ll be good to go.

4.Don’t DIY: Of course, we’re biased here, but let the professionals handle this aspect of your wedding! Weddings are stressful enough, and if you don’t have experience working with flowers, to have to do your own flowers is just a lot of unnecessary stress. As a professional florist, I did my own wedding flowers, and I don’t know that I would do that again! Let us take on the responsibility of creating, delivering, and setting your flowers up so your mom and Aunt Susan can relax and enjoy the day too!

If you were one of the lucky ones to get engaged, congratulations! If you have any questions or need more advice, feel free to reach out. We’re here to help!
